Cell Culture Supplement for Growth | CGP1
Cell Culture Growth Promotor and the Role of Biologics.
Cell culture is the process of growing cells in a controlled laboratory environment. Cell culture supplements and reagents provide cells with the necessary nutrients, growth factors, and conditions to support their survival, proliferation, and differentiation.
For many years Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) was used to support cell culture growth because of its essential nutrients, growth factors, and attachment factors that support the growth and proliferation of a wide range of cell types. In recent years, there have been efforts to find alternatives to FBS because of scientific and practical issues associated with FBS.
Introducing CGP1 – A Cell Growth Promotor Supplement
A proven, highly effective alternative to Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS), CGP1 is the result of years of research to find an alternative that’s safe and sustainable. With CGP1, our proprietary Cell Growth Promotor supplement, you can now move from research to manufacturing at scale with consistency, availability and long term price stability.

Product Information
DESCRIPTION:
CGP1 is a cell growth process supplement and alternative to Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). In comparison it also offers the added benefits of:
- Lower Costs
- Reduced Risk of Contamination
- Long Shelf Life at Room Temperature
- Suitability for Specific Cell Types
- Available as a powder formulation
Packaging
- 100 mL equivalent
- 500 mL equivalent
- 1000 ml equivalent
- Bulk Packaging
APPLICATIONS:
CGP is intended for use in any application where FBS is currently being used and in new processes where FBS may be a candidate for use. CGP can be reconstituted and used in liquid form or can be added to media or reagents in a powdered form and reconstituted with the complete formulation.
Trials to date indicate that using CGP 1 at equivalent levels to current serum supplementation protocols produces acceptable to exceptional results.

Advantages Over Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS)
CGP1 offers several significant advantages over FBS including:
Lower Cost:
CGP Pro 1 is generally less expensive than FBS, making it a more economical option.
Reduced Risk of Contamination:
CGP Pro 1 offers a lower risk of contamination with viruses or other pathogens, because of the viradical steps used in production.
Reduced Levels of Growth Factors and Hormones:
CGP Pro 1 contains lower levels of growth factors and hormones compared to FBS. This can be beneficial for certain cell types or experiments where a more defined culture environment is desired.
Suitability for Specific Cell Types:
Some cell types may grow better or exhibit specific phenotypes in CGP Pro compared to FBS.
FAQs
Cell culture supplements provide essential nutrients, growth factors, and hormones that support the growth, proliferation, and survival of cells in culture. They are crucial for maintaining cell viability, function, and phenotype.
The choice of supplement depends on the specific cell type, culture conditions, and experimental objectives. Contact New Life Biologics (click here) on recommendations for guidance.
Growth factors stimulate cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration.
Signs of contamination include cloudy media, changes in cell morphology, and the presence of visible particles or organisms.
